1. Who we are
LawRevise ("we", "us", "our") is an independent online revision platform built for students registered with the University of London External LLB programme. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the University of London or University of London Worldwide.

2. What data we collect
- Account data: your name and email address when you register.
- Usage data: pages visited, modules accessed, quiz scores, and study progress — used to personalise your dashboard and improve the platform.
- Payment data: billing is handled entirely by Lemon Squeezy. We do not store card numbers or payment details. We receive a subscription status (free / core / premium) and renewal date.
- Content you create: essay submissions, discussion posts, and AI tutor conversations stored to provide our services.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, and access timestamps for security and analytics.
3. How we use your data
- To operate and deliver the platform (account management, content access, progress tracking).
- To process and manage your subscription via Lemon Squeezy.
- To send transactional emails (account confirmation, payment receipts, password reset).
- To provide AI-powered features (essay marking, AI tutor) — your input is processed by our AI provider and is not used to train third-party models.
- To improve the platform through aggregated, anonymised usage analytics.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
4. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)
Where applicable, we process your data on the following legal bases:
- Contract performance — processing necessary to deliver the service you signed up for.
- Legitimate interests — platform security, fraud prevention, and service improvement.
- Consent — for optional marketing communications (you may withdraw at any time).
5. Data sharing
We share data only with service providers necessary to run the platform:
- Supabase — database and authentication hosting (EU/US data centres with standard contractual clauses).
- Lemon Squeezy — payment processing and subscription management.
- Resend — transactional email delivery.
- AI providers — for essay marking and AI tutor features; data processed under data processing agreements.
6. Data retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we permanently delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g. payment records for 7 years).
7. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Object to or restrict processing.
- Data portability.

8. Cookies
We use essential cookies for authentication (session management) and a preference cookie to remember your theme choice (light/dark). We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You can manage cookies through your browser settings; disabling essential cookies will prevent you from remaining logged in.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), bcrypt password hashing, and row-level security on our database. No system is completely secure; please use a strong, unique password for your account.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email or a dashboard banner at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance.
